Marco De Nes
CEO & Founder
Born and raised in Guatemala, Marco has a deep-rooted connection to the land, culture, and traditions that make Guatemalan coffee so special. In 2000, he purchased a farm in Alta Verapaz with a simple dream: to grow coffee that he could share with his family and friends. What began as a personal passion gradually grew into something bigger—a desire to share the distinctive character of single-origin specialty coffee with others.
For Marco, coffee has always been about more than what is in the cup. A cup of coffee can mean a quiet moment of reflection, a familiar morning ritual, or time spent reconnecting with the people who matter most. Its meaning may be different for everyone, but coffee has a remarkable way of bringing people together. With a background in software engineering spanning nearly four decades, Marco has spent much of his professional life solving problems, building ideas, and pursuing new possibilities. Yet his connection to coffee has remained a constant source of inspiration. Over the years, his original dream has evolved into Spice Coffee—a way to share the unique flavors, character, and origins of Guatemalan coffee with people beyond his own table.
Today, Spice Coffee carries that same spirit forward. What started with a farm in Alta Verapaz and a dream of sharing coffee with loved ones has become an invitation to experience the richness of Guatemala, one cup at a time.

Isabella De Nes
Chief Operations Officer
Having grown up in Guatemala, Isabella has always felt a connection to the country’s rich coffee culture and the landscapes that make its coffee unique. As Marco’s daughter, she grew up with an appreciation for the land and the traditions behind Guatemalan coffee. Over time, her curiosity grew into a deeper interest in understanding everything that goes into creating the perfect cup—from the coffee plant and harvesting process to roasting, packaging, and the journey from farm to customer.
Today, Isabella brings that curiosity and attention to detail to Spice Coffee as Chief Operations Officer. She works across the many moving parts of the business, helping coordinate sourcing and production in Guatemala, navigating export and import logistics, developing packaging and branding, and building the systems needed to bring Spice Coffee to customers in the United States.
For Isabella, being part of Spice Coffee is an opportunity to connect her roots in Guatemala with a shared family vision. She believes that every cup tells a story—not only of where the coffee was grown, but also of the care, knowledge, and people behind it.
Working alongside Marco, Isabella is helping transform a dream that began on a farm in Alta Verapaz into a coffee brand that brings the character of Guatemala to new tables and new traditions. Through Spice Coffee, she hopes to help people appreciate not just the coffee they drink, but the journey that brings it to them.
